What is DDoS protection?
A distributed denial of service (DDoS) attack floods a service with traffic from many sources to make it unavailable. DDoS protection absorbs or filters that traffic, usually at a CDN or cloud edge, before it reaches the application. It is often combined with rate limiting.
What the buyer is really asking
Name the layer that absorbs volumetric attacks, usually your CDN or cloud provider. Say whether you have application-layer rate limits on top. That is a complete answer for most SaaS products.
