What is an emergency change?
An emergency change is a change made urgently to fix an outage or security issue, using a faster approval path than normal. Good practice still requires authorization and a review after the fact. Frameworks such as ITIL and SOC 2 expect emergency changes to be documented.
What the buyer is really asking
Every process needs a fast path for outages and urgent fixes. Buyers want to see that the fast path is still controlled. Say who can use it, what is skipped, and how the change is reviewed afterward.
Other ways buyers ask it
Every one of these wants the same answer:
- “What is your emergency change process?”
- “How are hotfixes approved and reviewed?”
- “Can the normal change process be bypassed?”
Evidence to have ready
- The emergency change section of your change policy
- A recent emergency change with its after-the-fact review
How Tyrvar answers this
Tyrvar treats every wording above as one question. You write the answer once, attach the evidence, and revisit it when your setup changes. Each buyer gets that approved answer no matter how their questionnaire words it. If you have not answered it yet, Tyrvar flags the question for you and does not make something up. Try it on your own questionnaire.
