What are IDS and IPS?
An intrusion detection system (IDS) monitors network or host activity for signs of attack and raises alerts. An intrusion prevention system (IPS) does the same and also blocks the traffic it identifies as malicious. Cloud providers offer managed threat detection services that fill a similar role.
What the buyer is really asking
Name the tool that watches network traffic for attacks, whether that is a cloud-native threat detection service or a dedicated IDS. Say what it monitors, including traffic between environments, and where alerts go. If you rely on a different control, describe it instead of implying an IDS.
